Doctor Appt Update

Happy Fall, it feels funny saying that with the temperatures still feeling like summer. I have just a few updates I would like to share. We took Cole down to Houston yesterday for two doctor appointments. First off was with Dr. Lewis, he is the Retina Specialist. Let's just say Cole is not a big fan of going to the eye doctor, but he actually did a little better this go round. They did the usual dilating of the eyes, and he was actually able to do a better evaluation this time since Cole was more cooperative. I'll just say in the past it's taken about 3-4 people to keep him still because he is so strong, but I don't blame him one bit for wanting to jump out of the chair. I don't like those drops in my eyes and all the crazy lights and things they do right in your face. He adjusted his prescription just a little bit for his glasses, but he didn't see any major changes. And he didn't notice anymore spots around the retina which is great news. After all of that, little man was more than ready to get out of there. Little did he know we had one more stop, but this one was an easy visit. We went to Texas Children's to see Dr. Wright, she is the sweet dermatologist we saw last year for the telangiectasias on Cole's cheeks. These are the little broken vessels that we've been watching. She recommended we do a laser treatment to remove those. He will be sedated for this but she said it's pretty quick and painless. The whole procedure should take about 45 minutes and the recovery time is minimal. She did say it will probably take about 2-3 treatments to get the best results. The cause for these is still a mystery, but that seems to be the story with Cole's medical condition. :) Once we are complete with the treatments she said they shouldn't come back, there is a small chance he may have to get minor things done down the way. I love his sweet cheeks just the way they are, so kissable! We'll probably do the first treatment next February, she said it's best to do it when their skin is the fairest and he's not in the sun too much. He is enjoying school and is still doing great at speech. She did her usual testing she does about every 6 months and he's climbing the ladder with his words and language. So proud of him!!!
